Dalian is the self-proclaimed fashion capital of China, and hosts a large week-long fashion festival every Autumn. While Shanghai sophisticates may have something to say about the merits of the styles on display, most ordinary young adults are nontheless notcieably fashion-concious in everyday life, and often dress as if their first (or next) magazine cover is just around the corner, even if like these two, they are only making a trip to the night market restaurant to sit on little plastic stools, drink warm beer and eat kebabs.
